The lodge opens in early May when we begin fishing the upper reaches of the Knight Inlet. The fish are a mixture of 8 – 25 lb. “feeder” Chinook and some larger (up to 50 lb.) mature Chinook. At times, the abundance of “feeders” affords us the luxury of practicing catch and release. The other highlights of this time of seasons are the spectacular scenery and remoteness of the area. Carved out by a glacier, the upper Knight Inlet provides some of the most beautiful vistas in the world, yet few anchorages or services for other boaters. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In early July, we relocate the lodge to the mouth of the inlet. Here we fish for the migrating runs of all five species of Pacific salmon. With our focus mainly on the large Chinook, we also catch the acrobatic Coho/Silver salmon as well as Sockeye, Pink, and Chum. Another benefit of this location is the opportunity to try a little bottom fishing for halibut, ling cod and rock fish. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
